The first Bath Gardeners’ Market has been held at Green Park Station.

Around 40 small independent traders selling every kind of garden product took stalls at the new outlet on Sunday.

Bath Gardeners' Market

The ‘Dig In’ Market is the idea of landscape gardeners Rick Thomas and Tom Ashford, who run The Garden Works Company together at Bitton.

Mr Thomas said: “We have tried to create an artisan feel and put together all aspects of gardening business, from plants and lawns to ornaments and rustic furniture, under one roof.”

Mr Ashford added: “I think a lot of the big garden centres are very commercial and over-priced. We are offering a small-scale venture that’s completely different.”

Traders at the inaugural market included a florist, specialist nurseries, wood craftsmen and the Bath Beekeeping Association.

It is likely to take place at Green Park three times a year – in spring, summer and autumn.
